Our take

The DJI Mic 3 is for people who already make a living from video or record things that can't be repeated: interviews, events or multi-person podcasts. Its big advantage is 32-bit float onboard recording: each mic keeps a copy of the audio, so even if the connection fails or someone suddenly shouts, the take can be saved.

It also adjusts levels automatically (adaptive gain), has two levels of noise cancellation, three voice tones and a receiver that accepts up to four transmitters — very handy for group podcasts.

In exchange, it costs quite a bit more than the Mic Mini, weighs a little more (16 g) and has less battery per mic (8 h). If you only shoot Reels and TikToks, it's more than you need.

Pros

  • 32-bit float onboard recording
  • Automatic gain control
  • Up to 4 mics per receiver
  • 400 m range

Cons

  • High price
  • Less battery per mic than the Mic Mini
  • More features than a beginner needs
