Our take
The Osmo Mobile 7P is the gimbal TechRadar, Android Authority and most expert reviews recommend, and it's easy to see why. Its key piece is the Multifunctional Module that clips onto the phone holder: it handles auto-tracking without relying on DJI's app, receives audio from a DJI Mic 2 or Mic Mini, and adds a small fill light.
The extension rod (215 mm) and tripod are built in, so you can film yourself, take group selfies or set it on a table without carrying extra gear. It powers on when you unfold it, the phone attaches magnetically, and the battery lasts up to 10 hours (less with tracking and the light on).
For most creators, the Osmo Mobile 8's upgrades aren't worth paying more. A heads-up for Android users: the DJI Mimo app is no longer on Google Play and has to be downloaded from DJI's website.
Pros
- Native tracking with any camera app
- Built-in extension rod and tripod
- Receives audio from DJI mics
- Up to 10 h of battery
Cons
- On Android, the app is downloaded outside Google Play
- Battery drops to 4–5 h with tracking and the light on
