Our take
The Elgato Key Light has become the standard on streamer and YouTuber desks. It puts out 2,800 lumens — far more than a room needs — so you'll usually run it at 30–50% and never come up short, even at night.
Its strength is control: you adjust it over Wi-Fi from the desktop app, your phone or a Stream Deck, without touching the light. The opal glass diffuser spreads the light very evenly with no annoying glare on glasses.
The downsides: it's expensive, it plugs into the wall, and its roughly 1.5 m desk pole isn't travel gear. It's a light for a permanent setup.
Pros
- 2,800 lumens: plenty of light
- Full control via Wi-Fi and Stream Deck
- Very even, glare-free light
- 2900–7000 K range
Cons
- High price
- Not portable
- Needs a wall outlet
